The Beginning!

Hello!

SO it has been a couple days since my last post but there has been a lot going on and I just started classes!  SO where to start from... I guess we should start from the day after my last post.  SO on saturday all of us got up ate breakfast, which by the way is very good and all of us schedule our day around going to eat at the specific times.  Then we decided that we all wanted to go to Oxford! A group of 7 of us broke off from the rest of the group to go and do our own thing! We have been told that that number is not the best number to have but AS you can tell I really didn't care to much about that.   We all were able to decide as a group what we wanted to do ad what we wanted to see! So we walked around aimlessly for about an hour until finally we gave in and decided to buy a guided walking tour through the city.  It turned out to be a great idea because we learned a lot about the buildings and we got to see where Harry Potter was filmed which was even better! So after the tour we obviously decided to go pub hoping!
The pubs we went to were amazing! the first was the Turf Tavern, the oldest in England!  It was quite good and worth the money! then we went to the Eagle and Child where JRR Tolkein wrote the Lord of the Rings which was a lot of fun and then we went to the Lamb and Arms I think it was but dont hold me to that!
When we got back there was going to be a disco party at he buttery which is our bar on campus! that turned out to be a lot of fun and then we decided to go visit banburry late at night! lets just say going to a Foam party! was insane! Now classes have begun and I have come to realize that the Shakespeare I will be studying is a little more difficult because for one its Antony and Cleopatra! and two its Antony and Cleopatra! :) but other than that I read none stop! so we have been studying in the library fr forever! this week is all classes and then on friday we are all going to London and we found a rate where I only pay 53 pounds for the weekend to stay in a hotel with 6 other people! yay!

Change

Hello!

This will hopefully be the first of many blogs about how my study abroad is going in Wroxton, England!  It is not the most well known place but it has so much to offer and i have been here for only a day! (not even)
Let's begin with how my day began.  I flew from LAX to London's Heathrow.  It was a long painful 10 hours that were a little ridiculous but its all worth it! I landed early at 7am London time! :) and had to make my way through the terrible process of immigration where you are asked the same questions over and over again.  For instance, "why are you coming here?", my answer "to study at Wroxton." What are you studying? what classes will you take? i see here that you have traveled to London in Januray, why? who went with you?  questions like these can irritate an American.  So now it is 8am and i have claimed my bags and now am getting on the train to go to terminal 5 where i had to wait for the rest of the group to arrive.  It was a long 2 hour wait but in the meantime I did meet with some people who o run the college and was able to pick their brains about what was going on on campus and the sights we will be seeing.  Finally at 10 everyone is here and now we are on a bus on our way to this beloved Abey.  everyone is sleeping but I can't seem to even though i have been up for a very long time! I guess it was the jitters that got to me.  we finally reach the campus and guess what our Dean greets us.  He is wonderful and luckily i get to have a class with him! :) This Abey is by te way breathtaking! there is a regency room and let me tell you there is a lot of gold in it! :)
so we get our keys after making a 50 pound deposit, there goes all my spending money. and I get to see my room! I have no roommate, which is amazing! I have my own bathroom and fireplace.. hmm wonder where i will be reading at night! but I got to walk the grounds. lets just say that ponds, lakes, an waterfalls, are there with some beautiful bridges.  The wod has been carved so beautifully with dates in them like 1698 and so on.. I have come to discover that the girls are basically the only ones who have a bathroom with their room.. thank god! :) But right on schedule! (slur the "sch" sound so you sound english) and you have your amazing tea! :) it is almost ^ pm here and i have slept in about 28 hours! yay :) i might be forging that because i really dont know how long it has been! but I know that some of us plan to go look into the pub in the twon which should be fun.

ps the male faculty like reminding the female students that they need to beware of english men because they are "scumbags" and all they want to do is use you! love it

until next time
